Good Evening students and parents. This is Josh Eanes, Principal at Bethany Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
Friday, October 22nd is a Teacher Workday and there is no school for students.
Fall picture retakes and make-ups will happen tomorrow, Monday, October 18th.
Bethany Elementary will kick off our Kindness Matters campaign this week. Students can participate in a variety of ways. Monday is the start of ‘Socktober.’ We will begin collecting sock donations and give to an agency in need at the end of October. Tuesday is ‘Positive Vibes’ day and students can wear clothing with positive messages. Lastly, Wednesday is United Day. We encourage all students to wear Orange in support of kindness!
Students in grades 3-5 will take the first reading benchmark assessment of the year this Tuesday. This is a short assessment to let our teachers know how students are progressing. Our first grading period ends this Thursday. It’s hard to believe one quarter of this school year is almost over!
Our Bethany Student Council will host its Annual Blood Drive this Wednesday, October 20th from 1:30-6:00pm in our gym. The American Red Cross is in critical need of blood donors. If you wish to give blood you may sign up online for an appointment or call our Bethany front office. Walk-ins will also be accepted! Thank you for supporting our school and community!
The Fall book fair will be open on Monday and Tuesday this week before closing until Spring! Any parent wishing to shop in person may visit our book fair tomorrow after dismissal until 4pm.
Parent conferences will begin this week and last through the end of November. We encourage all parents to participate in these conferences to learn about growth and progress made by their child since the start of this school year. Our goal is to meet with 100% of our parents. Please be on the lookout for more information from your child’s teacher about appointment times for conferences.
Fundraiser items were delivered this past week. All fundraiser money is due Friday, October 29th.
Bethany will have an outside Veterans Day Program on Wednesday, November 10th. If any student has local family members who are Veterans or are active military personnel, please send in the name, address, and relation to student so that we can extend an invitation for them to attend. With safety protocols in place, this event will be by invitation only and closed for the public. Thank you for your help!
Please enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow morning!
