"Good evening Bethany Families. This is Josh Eanes, Principal at Bethany Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
First, I would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to all of the Veterans that have served our country so strongly throughout time. Our students and staff will dearly miss our annual Veteran’s Day celebration this year as it has always been a special part of our Bethany tradition. As we observe Veterans Day this Wednesday, November 11th, there will be no remote learning for students.
Families, as you are aware, the RCS Board of Education voted to move all schools in our county to Plan C, virtual learning for all students, beginning tomorrow, November 9th. Students will not attend school on campus. We will operate under Plan C through the remainder of 1st semester. During virtual learning, we will take daily attendance, assign grades for completed work, and require daily participation. Assigned school work should be submitted in a timely manner. Our teachers will continue to work hard to support our students and families and we know our Bethany families will do their best as well. I encourage all parents to continually stay in touch with your child’s teacher and stay closely connected to our school’s website at bethanyelementary.org and our social media outlets.
To assist students with virtual learning, all students (Kindergarten-Fifth grade) have the option to check out a school Chromebook for at home use. There is a $30 non-refundable insurance fee for each device. Students needing a device should contact our school for further assistance.
School pictures have been postponed at this time. We are in the process of working with our photo company to make adjustments. School pictures will likely now take place at the beginning of second semester. We will share more information as it is known.
Lastly, Bethany Elementary School will thankfully serve as a virtual learning feeding site through the end of this school year. Our school cafeteria will be open Monday through Friday, providing free meals to any child up to 18 years of age, regardless of their free and reduced meal status. Simply come to our school between 11:30am and 1:00pm, Monday through Friday, to pick up your child’s free lunch and breakfast for the next day.
We fully realize this transition will be challenging for all, but our teachers and staff promise to continue working hard for our students and families. Moving forward, our school, this community and its families must do so together. We ask for continued grace and patience and assure we will afford the same in the coming days and months. We truly appreciate your support and know we are always better together.
Have a great evening and we look forward to a great week of school!"
