"Good evening Bethany Families. This is Josh Eanes, Principal at Bethany Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
We will continue operating under Plan B this week with students in our AA cohort attending school on campus Monday and students in our BB Cohort attending school on campus Thursday and Friday. 100% virtual learners will participate remotely Monday through Friday this week.
This Tuesday, November 3rd is a teacher workday. No students will come to campus and there is no remote learning. Wednesday will be a remote work day as it has been this year.
Check-in testing for students in grade 3-5 will take place this week.
Students in our AA cohort will test on Monday. 4th and 5th grade students will take the reading test at 8:30am and the math test at approximately 11:30am. 3rd grade students will take the math test at 8:30am as there is no reading. Lunch will be provided for all students, including those virtual students coming to campus to test. Virtual students coming to campus for testing should arrive at 8:00am. 5th grade students in our AA cohort will take the science test remotely and further directions will be shared.
Students in our BB cohort will test on Thursday and Friday. 4th and 5th grade students will take the reading test on Thursday at 8:30am. 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will take the math test on Friday at 8:30am. 5th grade students only will also take the science test on Friday at approximately 11:30am. Virtual students coming to campus for testing should arrive at 8:00am.
School pictures will again be postponed. We are in the process of working with our photo company to make adjustments. School pictures will likely now take place at the beginning of second semester. We will share more information as it is known.
As you are aware, the RCS Board of Education voted to move all schools in our county to Plan C, virtual learning for all students, beginning the week of November 9th. Our school will operate similarly to the way we did at the start of the school year. Attendance will be taken daily, assignments given and grades taken for completed work.
We fully realize this transition will be challenging for all, but our teachers and staff promise to continue working hard for our students and families. We know there are many mixed feelings regarding this decision. Moving forward, our school, this community and its families must do so together. In my opinion, Bethany has always been the best and I know it will continue to be. We ask for continued grace and patience and assure we will afford the same in the coming days and months. We truly appreciate your support and know we are always better together.
Have a great evening and we look forward to a great week of school!"
