Good Evening students and parents. This is Josh Eanes, Principal at Bethany Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
I hope you have all had a wonderful Holiday season and wish everyone a Happy New Year. Students will return to their normal schedule this Tuesday, January 4th. Tomorrow, Monday, January 3rd is a teacher workday and there is no school for students.
As we return, please remember that doors will open for all students at 7:25am and they may report directly to their classroom. Students wishing to pick up breakfast in our cafeteria may do so before heading to their classroom to eat. Our tardy bell rings at 7:45am each morning. Students arriving late to school must be signed in by a parent at our front door.
Parents, the BMX Bike Show fundraiser incentive will take place next Wednesday, January 12th for all students that qualify. Other incentives will be scheduled later in the year.
Lastly, at its December meeting the RCS Board of Education voted to make masks optional for all K-12 students and staff beginning Tuesday, January 4th. Face masks are required for preschool students and staff. Also, per CDC order, masks are still required on all school buses. If your child rides a bus, please help us by sending a mask to school with them each day. In addition to masks being optional, all contact tracing will now be handled by the Rockingham County Health Department.
Parents, please continue to help our school stay safe by keeping students who are sick, showing symptoms of COVID or have been exposed to COVID at home until you have talked with our school for the safest next steps. Also, if your child has been tested for COVID, please keep them home until results return. If your child tests positive for covid, please keep them at home and notify our school. Our goal is to work with families so that we can continue to operate, in-person, safely.
Please enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing everyone bright and early Tuesday morning.
