"Good evening Bethany Families. This is Josh Eanes, Principal at Bethany Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, there will be no school tomorrow. Tuesday, January 19th and Wednesday, January 20th are teacher workdays.
Beginning Thursday, January 21st, all schools in Rockingham County will move to Plan B, our hybrid AA/BB schedule. Students in our AA cohort will attend school on campus Mondays and Tuesdays and students in our BB Cohort will attend school on campus Thursday’s and Friday’s. Wednesday will remain a remote instruction day for all students. Students will remain on their previously assigned AA or BB day. If you do not remember your child’s assigned day please reach out to their teacher.
Students choosing to continue as 100% virtual learners will attend school remotely Monday through Friday each week.
Students attending school in-person must submit an attestation form before this Thursday. Students will not be able to attend school without a completed form. The form can be found on our school website or signed in person at our school.
For those returning to campus, our school hours are 7:45am-2:45pm and students are allowed to begin entering the building at 7:25am. Our tardy bell rings at 7:45am and parents must sign in students that are tardy. As students enter the building, they may pick up free breakfast in the clearstory as they head to class.
At arrival, all students and staff must pass a health screen, temperature check and have on a face covering before entering our building each day. Face coverings have been provided to all students and must be worn at all times. Students riding a bus will be screened before entering our school. Students arriving by car must drive through one of our screening stations set up in the drop off line. We ask all parents and students to remain in their car and use the drive through line. Walk-ups will not be permitted. Any student that does not pass the health screen or has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, will remain in their car and exit our campus. School staff will follow up with students who do not pass our daily safety screens.
As we dismiss school each afternoon, we ask all parents to use our drive through line. Walk-ups will not be allowed at afternoon dismissal. School staff will safely load students into cars. Please place a sign with your child’s name in the front windshield for easy dismissal.
Bethany Elementary School will continue serving free breakfast and lunch to any child up to age 18 through the end of this school year, regardless of their free and reduced meal status. 100% Virtual students may pick up 5 days of meals on Wednesday each week between 11:30am and 1:00pm.
Lastly, our school will release a video regarding health and safety procedures for students, parents and staff this week. We strongly encourage you to view this video prior to your child’s first day of school on campus. It will be located on our school website, class dojo and our Bethany PTA Facebook page.
We truly know that it will take a team effort to operate our school safely as we return and we sincerely thank you in advance for your support. We are all human, but please know that our school staff will do everything we possibly can to keep our students safe.
