Good Evening students and parents. This is Josh Eanes, Principal at Bethany Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.

Bethany Elementary is excited to continue ‘Good Vibes Tuesdays.’ Each Tuesday of the month, students and staff will spread good vibes by showing spirit in different ways. This Tuesday is Happy Hat Day and students are encouraged to wear their favorite hat!

Bethany Elementary will celebrate the 100th day of school this Wednesday, February 9th. To help celebrate, each hallway is collecting items for various community charities. The Red hallway is collecting items for the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, the Blue hallway is collecting for the Rockingham Hope Food Drive and the Green hallway is collecting for Hospice of Rockingham County. Students can continue bringing donations this week! Please see the flyer shared on Dojo for more specific information.

Families, this week is Counselor Appreciation Week! Our students and staff wish to thank Ms. DeLapp for all the wonderful things she does to support our school! She loves Bethany and we are very lucky to have her as our counselor. Thank you Ms. DeLapp!

Attention 5th grade parents! It is time to purchase personal 5th grade ad pages and send in baby pictures for the 2021-2022 Bethany yearbook. For purchasing information and further directions, please see the flyer’s attached to your child’s dojo.

Also, 5th Grade Parents, Rockingham County Middle School will host an open house parent night for Bethany Elementary 5th grade families on Wednesday, February 16th beginning at 6pm. We encourage our 5th grade families to take this opportunity to visit Rockingham Middle to see all the wonderful things they have to offer your student next year.

Parents, please mark your calendars for Monday, February 28th as our PTA hosts its 3rd quarter meeting. StuffnFun Bears and Usborne Books by Julia will be on site for the PTA meeting! StuffnFun Bears is very similar to Build A Bear and will be funded by the PTA for Bethany students! To learn more about StuffnFun Bears, please visit their Facebook page. We look forward to seeing you!

Parents, in accordance with Rockingham County Schools current strategic plan, our school will be creating a Bethany Parent Advisory Council. The advisory council will meet once each semester moving forward. Please be on the lookout for more specific information, including what our council will entail and how to join, that will come home this week.

Lastly, please continue to help our school stay safe by keeping students who are sick, showing symptoms of COVID or have been exposed to COVID at home until you have talked with our school for the safest next steps. Also, if your child has been tested for COVID, please keep them home until results return. If your child tests positive for covid, please keep them at home and notify our school. Our goal is to work with families so that we can continue to operate, in-person, safely.

Please enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow morning!
