"Good evening Bethany Families. This is Josh Eanes, Principal at Bethany Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
Virtual learning will continue for all students this week. We are continually encouraged by the many great things we see each week from our students. Thank you for your continued support of your child and our school. We know this process is challenging for all. Please remember, during Virtual Learning, we take daily attendance, assign grades for completed work, and require daily participation. Our teachers are continually working hard to prepare each week and will certainly remain in close contact with their students and families. I encourage all parents to stay in touch with your child’s teacher and stay closely connected to our school’s website at bethanyelementary.org and our social media outlets.
Tomorrow, August 31st is the last day our cafeteria will serve free meals to any child up to age 18. Beginning Tuesday, September 1st, meals will be available to students of Bethany Elementary. Meal pricing will be based on the students free and reduced meal status. I strongly encourage all families to complete a Free and Reduced Meal Application if they have not done so. Applications may be completed online by simply going to lunchapplication.com. Paper copies are available in our Bethany front office. For those families wanting to check on their students application process and meal status, please call our Bethany Cafeteria at 951-2710. Meals are available Monday through Friday, from 11:30am-1:00pm, by using our easy outside drive-thru service.
Beginning Monday, September 21st, Rockingham County Schools will transition to Plan B. Plan B allows for our school to operate at 50% of the building capacity, with students physically attending school. Plan B rosters for the AA / BB schedules and bus routes will be shared by your child’s teacher during the week of September 8th. To meet our capacity requirements, AA/BB schedules are pre-assigned by our school. All siblings will attend school on the same day, including those that have siblings at other RCS locations. Please be reminded that Bethany Charter is not part of Rockingham County Schools.
Students will return to school on September 21st under the following schedule:
Students assigned as AA, will attend school physically with face coverings on Mondays and Tuesdays and have remote instruction on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Students assigned as BB, will attend school physically with face coverings on Thursdays and Fridays and have remote instruction on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Wednesdays will be a remote instruction day for all students in order to perform school cleanings and to provide teachers with the time needed to plan instruction.
Students wishing to remain virtual learners for the remainder of the quarter or school year are required to complete a Memorandum of Understanding, guaranteeing your child can continue with Virtual Learning. The MOU must be completed and returned to our school office by this Friday, September 4th. Specific guidelines are clearly outlined on the MOU for those choosing this option. Please complete the MOU even if you previously filled out the online survey form this Summer. Paper copies of the MOU are available at our school.
More information about the required MOU for virtual learning and about our school’s transition to Plan B can be found on our school website, bethanyelementary.org, or on our District website.
Have a great evening and we look forward to a great week of school!"
Thanks, Josh Eanes
