"Good evening Bethany Families. This is Josh Eanes, Principal at Bethany Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
Tomorrow, August 17th is the official First day of School for the 2020-2021school year. Our teachers and staff have worked extremely hard this summer and are excited to welcome you all back.
As you know, we will begin with Virtual Learning for the 1st 5 weeks of school. During Virtual Learning, we will take daily attendance, assign grades for completed work, and require daily participation. Our teachers are working hard to prepare for their new Virtual Classrooms and will certainly be in close communication with parents as we move forward. I encourage all parents to continually stay in touch with your child’s teacher and stay closely connected to our school’s website at bethanyelementary.org and our social media outlets.
We really enjoyed seeing our students at this past week's Open House. At Open House, all parents received back to school paperwork to be completed for each child. Please complete all informational paperwork received and return to Bethany Elementary by this Friday, August 21st. A box will be placed in our drive-thru lane each day for easy drop off.
Also at Open House, each parent received an informational flyer about our beginning of the year fundraiser. We are selling Bethany Elementary masks and face coverings to help our students and staff show Bethany spirit. For easy purchase, visit our Bethany school website or use the link found on the flyer sent home. The fundraiser will conclude on August 24th.
To assist students with Virtual Learning, all students (Kindergarten-Fifth grade) have the option to check out a school Chromebook for at home use. There is a $30 non-refundable insurance fee for each device. Students needing a device may pick up a Chromebook this week, at their convenience, from 8am-4pm. As students use chromebooks at home, please reach out to your child’s teacher for assistance if needed.
Kindergarten families are invited to participate in kindergarten orientation this week. Please arrive at Bethany Elementary at your pre-scheduled appointment time set up by your child’s teacher. We will follow specific safety procedures for entry into our building and they will be shared with you by your child’s teacher.
Lastly, Bethany Elementary School will serve as a Virtual Learning feeding site through the end of August. Our school cafeteria will be open August 17th-31st providing free meals to any child up to 18 years of age. Simply come to our school between 11:30am and 1:00pm, Monday through Friday, to pick up your child’s free lunch and breakfast for the next day.
Have a great evening and we look forward to a great first week of school!"
