Good Evening students and parents. This is Josh Eanes, Principal at Bethany Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.

3rd quarter report cards go home with students tomorrow. It’s hard to believe but we are now in the final quarter of this school year. If you have questions regarding your child’s progress, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

The Bethany Student Council is sponsoring a coin fundraiser to support the children and families of Ukraine. This drive will begin tomorrow morning and run through Friday, April 8th. Students can bring coins and bills to the clearstory each morning this week to donate to their grade level's bucket. Pennies and bills will help your child's grade level gain points. Donating silver coins will subtract points from OTHER grade levels. For example, dropping a dime in another grade level’s bucket takes 10 points from their total. The grade level with the most points will receive a doughnut party. All proceeds will go directly to UNICEF to support their charitable efforts in Ukraine.

Attention 5th grade parents, cap and gown graduation pictures will take place this Tuesday, April 5th at Bethany. Graduation gowns and caps will be provided for pictures. Picture order information will come home with your student.

Spring Break for Rockingham County Schools will begin next Monday, April 11th and end on Monday, April 18th. Students will return to school on Tuesday, April 19th. Childcare will be closed during Spring Break. There will be no Sunday night announcements next week.

Kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year will begin April 19th. Children must be age 5 on or before August 31, 2022 to be eligible for kindergarten. Parents will need a birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of residence to register. Students must register at their home school even if they apply for transfer. Bethany has designated April 19th from 9am-6pm and April 20th from 3pm-6pm as special registration times. Appointments are available and walk-ins are welcome! Please call our Bethany front office to schedule an appointment. We are excited to welcome our newest bulldogs to Bethany and hope you will help share the word in our community.

Transfer applications for the 2022-2023 school year are now available in the Bethany front office, on the District website and at the RCS Central Office. Applications must be submitted by Friday, April 29th. Students currently on transfer will not need to complete a new form this year and will remain enrolled at their current school. Transfer applications are for any new student requesting transfer to a new school next year. More information can be found on the RCS website at www.rock.k12.nc.us under Student Assignment.

Please enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow morning!
